Can hexagonal boron nitride be used as an additive for refractory raw materials?
Can hexagonal boron nitride be used as an additive for refractory raw materials? The natural nitriding shed is a composite of boric acid or borax (natural minerals) and ammonia at high temperature. The final product has a layered structure similar to graphite, and the chemical formula is BN.
Boron nitride usually has two crystal types, hexagonal and cubic. Hexagonal boron nitride is more widely used. Under special conditions of high temperature and ultra-high pressure, hexagonal boron nitride can be transformed into cubic boron nitride. Cubic boron nitride is a superhard material similar to diamond. Hexagonal boron nitride has similar properties to graphite, has good electrical insulation, thermal conductivity, chemical resistance and lubricity, and has a strong neutron absorption capacity, almost all organic solvents and corrosive chemicals All are relatively stable.
The melting point of boron nitride is high, which can only be sublimated at 3000 degrees Celsius. The use temperature of boron nitride in the inert gas can reach 2800 degrees Celsius, but its anti-oxidation ability is poor, and its stability in oxygen-containing air is about 800 degrees Celsius. The thermal conductivity is 25.12W/(m·K)(0.06cal/(cm·C)), and the expansion coefficient is low (2.0~6.5×10-6/C). Boron nitride is very heat-resistant and has good shock resistance. Therefore, boron nitride can be used as an additive for refractory raw materials.
